Ruf Records – Where Blues Crosses Over
Ruf Records is a German independent record label, which was founded in 1994 by Luther Allison’s manager, Thomas Ruf. The motto of the blues label is “Where Blues Crosses Over”. The company’s office is located in Lindewerra, Germany. Thomas Ruf and his crew are promoting many well known blues musicians such as Mike Zito, Albert Castiglia, Bernard Allison, Layla Zoe, Thorbjörn Risager & The Black Tornado, Big Daddy Wilson…… and are constantly looking for new talents like Samantha Fish, Ina Forsman, Jane Lee Hooker. Once a year the Blues Caravan is traveling around the world. If you’ve followed Ruf’s rolling revue since it started life in 2005, you’ll already know that these shows are must-see events, throwing together three stellar artists on one bill – then letting the chemistry do the rest.
On this year’s Blues Caravan, you’ll not only find one young gun with a dazzling career ahead of her, but also two heavyweights with a sky-high reputation. Let’s welcome on stage Mike Zito, Bernard Allison and Vanya Sky.
The Blues Foundation
Their Mission is to preserve blues heritage, celebrate blues recording and performance, expand worldwide awareness of the blues, and ensure the future of the uniquely American art form. The Blues Foundation is an American nonprofit corporation, headquartered in Memphis, TN, that is affiliated with more than 175 blues organizations from various parts of the world, founded in 1980.
On its formation, the foundation organized the annual W. C. Handy awards to “give recognition of the finest in blues performances and recordings.” The awards have since been renamed The Blues Music Awards. The BMAs are generally recognized as the highest honor given to blues musicians and are awarded by vote of Blues Foundation members.
The Blues Foundation is also responsible for the Blues Hall of Fame Museum, International Blues Challenge, Keeping the Blues Alive Awards, and Blues In The Schools programs.
The foundation established the HART Fund (Handy Artists Relief Trust) for blues musicians and their families in financial need due to a broad range of health concerns. The Fund provides for acute, chronic and preventive medical and dental care as well as funeral expenses.
Blues Hall of Fame
The Blues Hall of Fame is a music museum located in Memphis, Tennessee. Initially, the “Blues Hall of Fame” was not a physical building, but a listing of people who have significantly contributed to blues music. Started in 1980 by the Blues Foundation, it honors those who have performed, recorded, or documented blues. The actual building for the hall opened to the public on May 8, 2015.

The Memphis Blues Society
The Memphis Blues Society is an all volunteer non-profit arts organization. Our mission is to preserve and promote by presenting Blues events to the community of Memphis and support Blues artists.
Since 2005, the Memphis Blues Society (MBS) has worked to preserve Blues culture. MBS has organized and encouraged live Blues performances by Memphis and Mid-South musicians. Of late, MBS has significantly increased its efforts to broaden public awareness of the Blues in the Memphis/Mid-South area by expanding the number of venues featuring local Blues musicians and by developing the educational content of its social media, newsletter, and other outlets. The Memphis Blues Society (MBS) promotes and preserves a unique African-American art form of Blues.
