Fundraising Jam for HART Fund and Generation Blues during BMA week at Hard Rock Cafe Memphis, TN on 2019-05-10 hosted by Andy T. Many great blues artists like Bob Corritore, Anthony Geraci, Mike Welch, Andy T., Scot Sutherland, Ben Rice, Trudy Laynn, Annika Chambers ……….. did fundraising for the Generation Blues and the HART fund. The Blues Foundation expanded its longstanding Blues in the Schools youth education efforts with a new initiative that began in 2010 entitled Generation Blues. This scholarship program allows qualified applicants under the age of 21 to study their instrument of choice at reputable camps, seminars and workshop programs. The Blues Foundation established the HART Fund (Handy Artists Relief Trust) for Blues musicians and their families in financial need due to a broad range of health concerns. The Fund provides for acute, chronic and preventive medical and dental care as well as funeral and burial expenses. Throughout the year at various events the HART Fund provides free health screenings for musicians, with services including but not limited to checking blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, prostate cancer, Hep C, anemia, thyroid, kidney and liver testing via blood work.
